Yes, I want to send Soup Says It AllTM to someone special!
About Soup Says It AllTM
Hi,
I’m DeWayne Stiers, the founder of Soup Says It AllTM. I had a good friend in Los Angles, CA who was not feeling well and coming down with the flu. I wanted to let her know that I was thinking of her and hoped she would get well soon. I wanted to do more then just call her on the telephone and wish her well or send a card in the mail. It was Saturday afternoon and I did not have time to shop; nor did I have time to go to the post office to mail a package, yet I wanted to send just the right thing that would make her smile and feel better. Checking the internet, it became apparent that most gifts were $40 to $100 range plus shipping and postage.
Yikes!
That was more that I wanted to spend considering the nature of the friendship. My desire was to send a reasonably priced gift that conveyed just the right message.
Because of this dilemma I found myself in, I started thinking. That is always a dangerous thing! The issue that needed resolution was time:
- I needed to go shopping for a gift,
- buy not only the gift but wrapping paper,
- a card,
- packing paper,
- and pick up the right sized box.
- Then go home,
- fill out the card,
- wrap the gift,
- and properly package it for mailing it.
- Then go to the post office, which would be the next day as the post office was not open Sunday.
So it would be another day before the package could be mailed and I would have to take some time off work. I needed time to go shopping, time to pack the gift, and time to mail the gift. I was thinking Mom was right. When you want to tell someone to get well or just you are thinking about them send them chicken noodle soup! Moms are never wrong! So I thought about a soup mug that can double as a coffee/tea mug, cloth napkin, metal spoon and a simple card to jot down a note about my gift giving reason. And then the rest of it hit me!
"It would be so nice if I could just have someone do this for me. This is a perfect gift to send for almost any occasion that I want to let someone know they are in my thoughts. I would do this more often, for more of my friends and family, if I had the time!"
And it would be so convenient if I could go on the internet and just point click and have it shipped! Wow! It would save me a lot of time: I would not have to find the Time to go out and find all of the parts (the perfect mug, cloth napkin, metal spoon and a simple card), box to pack it in and bubble wrap or peanuts to keep it from breaking and then pack the gift and mail it. Did I mention that I could send more of these to more people if it were readily available on the internet at a reasonable price?
Thus, Soup Says It AllTM was born!
The simple yet effective "Thinking of You" gift consisting of a sturdy ceramic mug, a can of Chicken Noodle Soup, a white cloth napkin and spoon all snugly wrapped and shipped in a snappy white box with a "Thinking of You" card enclosed – Absolutely Perfect!
Not too big. Not too little. Just Right!
In my mind I could picture friends receiving the box and wondering what it might contain. Then smiling when they saw what is inside along with my note letting them know I was thinking of them. And then there is the picture of friends enjoying a steaming cup of soup and beginning to feel much better.
I knew that each time they used the ceramic mug to fix soup in the future or perhaps enjoy their favorite coffee, tea or hot chocolate, they would think of me and smile.
So I knew I should share this with everyone. My desire to help others with this same dilemma has grown to helping sheltered workshops who provide gainful employment to physically or mentally challenged, fundraising organizations generate income, and companies/businesses show their appreciation for their employees, customers and vendors. It has also extended to individuals who not only want to generate some additional income, but help put smiles on people’s faces!
We, at Soup Says It AllTM, have a passion to make smiles and that "warm fuzzy good" Feeling available to everyone - sender and recipient alike!
Our Sheltered Workshop Connection
We at Soup Says It All (SSIA) are very proud to have two sheltered workshops that we support in the production or our products
A sheltered workshop is a business, typically a 501(c)3 not for profit, which employs people that the State of Missouri has certified as being or having a mental or physical challenge. The business must comply with state regulations regarding the hours that can be worked, pay rates, safety, type of work that can be perform, etc. This gives the people that usually cannot find gainful employment an opportunity to have gainful employment. This provides them the feeling of being a productive employee, earning their own money and each person has a job to go to each day.
SSIA found that the local sheltered workshops have the ability to provide a service that we can purchase. We have designed our current packing process to accommodate the people at the sheltered workshops. We intend to include the same philosophy in our future products.
The mission statements of the two sheltered works shops we are using are as follows:
- "Providing meaningful employment for adults with disabilities" and
- "Workshop for special people"
Why do we use sheltered workshops?
Initially it was simply because we felt great about it!
Then we realized that you, our customer, would be proud to support the mission of sheltered workshops and their employees as well. Every time a gift is purchased, the workshop benefits with additional work. This is a win for YOU, a win for the Workshops and a win for Soup Says It AllTM.
A true win, win, win.
Sincerely,
DeWayne Stiers
